This style pan has very little slope to it and because of that, you can fit more food in it as well as having the maximum size heating area of any pan. Perfect for searing stakes, reducing stew, frying fish, and really anything besides stir fry which benefits from more heavily sloped sides.
I am not sure what to call the design of this handle since every body seems to see something different. When I first made this pattern I was trying to replicate a chip carving I had seen, to me it has initially felt like leaves, but I have heard wheat grass, dragon scale, and even layered hearts. I have made this pattern in several sizes on different items and the more I look at it the more I can see what others have told me it was. Any way this pattern was made with a single triangle shaped chisel that I rotate every time I move spots.
